Later, her wicked stepmother sends her off to retrieve light from the witch, Baba yaga. Vasilisa is given some tasks to complete in return for light. This rich folk tale retold without any twists with a touch of Russian proverbs is well supported by it`s brilliant artwork-extremely elaborate and colourful-which gives it a touch of Russian traditional folk art. Together, these provide an ample space for imagination.
As a kid I enjoyed reading Russian folk tales very much but I was unable to find anything good enough for my kids I presume such is the shortage of these precious tales in the market. And this beautiful book not only helps to fill up the gap but hopefully will vociferate many more to join in.
