Kuma - Kuma Chan`s Home ( Ages 2 to 3)
By : Kazue Takahashi
Publisher : Museyon ( April 2016)
The Cute Little Bear`s home is a very warm and an inviting place for kids. A place where they can cuddle up under a blanket and read about the "Kuma - Kuma Chan`s Home" (Cute Little Bear`s Home in Japanese )
The book opens up to an invitation letter from Kuma - Kuma Chan which evokes the curiosity of it`s readers. It`s a little far away from the young boy`s home to Kuma - Kuma Chan`s home, as he tells us that, "To get to Kuma - Kuma Chan`s home, I have to ride a train for an hour, take a bus for thirty minutes, then walk for fifteen minutes."
Kuma - Kuma Chan welcomes his friend by serving him "Bear tea" His home smells slightly of bear. They spend the day together -at first they are at loss for words- but soon conversation picks up, and by dinner they are chatting comfortably. They watch TV over hot milk and chocolates and the young boy bids his friend goodbye to catch the last bus of the day.A story that offers a situation the readers can easily relate themselves into.
The book is almost bare other than the few images done in soft earthy shades (on each page), in a white backdrop and with sparse text, but it is unique and oozes warmth. An absolutely right-paced story narrated by the young boy who`s invited. A book that offers peace and stability to it`s audience. I can easily imagine my little boy calmly listening and settling to this one.
This is the second book in it`s series and was originally published in Japanese.
