Acclaimed author cum illustrator`s first busy book aimed at the youngest set from one plus completed with introductions of six colours, numbers up to five, shapes and some animals with sounds. All done with his signature strokes. The book is in the form of a sturdy board book with a mirror image for the sun and some touch and feel elements to explain about animals. Although it`s a busy book it is not overcrowded with images and details but the right amount which makes it accessible to the smallest from maybe one year. With colourful, eye catching and engaging images this is indeed Eric Carle`s world of learning.

Counting Crows.( Ages 2 to 5)
By : Kathi Appelt & Rob Dunlavey

Publisher : Atheneum Books ( Mar., 2015)

"One,Two,Three,
Crows in a tree
Four,Five,Six,
Crows in the sticks
Seven,Eight,Nine
Crows on a line............".
So the number of crows increase up to twelve;having introduced three at a time. Then comes the cat! And the crows fly off in their original sets :three at a time,A repetition of counting.
This is a counting rhyme with some very attractive looking murder of crows to keep children engaged. From cover to cover  illustrations in this book are quite extraordinary, with crows highlighted in red stripy clothing and the rest in pencil sketch in a white backdrop will surely keep kids focused on crows and crows only!  Rhyming lines are equally good and simple; also has a touch of humor with the introduction of the cat. And those vivacious crows play a major role in this book.
Kathi Appelt is the multi-award winning author of "The Underneath"
